Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Day 02: Day in Kathmandu for the official procedure

Day 03: Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding (2820 m):

Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla early in the morning and then an easy descent to Ghat, Chaurikharka, then an easy climb along the river to Dudhosi Phakding: 3 Hours of walking.

Day 04: Phakding - Namche Bazaar (3445m):

Easy climb up Jorsalle, crossing several times Dudhkosi River to Namche Bazaar, a place known for its commercial activities inhabited by Sherpas managers specific shops for hikers. The city also has many restaurants, cyber cafe, bank, ATM, post office, monastery and a traditional market organized every Saturday by the local population: 6 hours of walking

Day 05: Namche Bazzar:

Day of rest and acclimatization, possibility of visits (monastery view of Everest ...) and or shopping

Day 06: Namche - Tyangboche:   

We go up slightly with views Thamserku, Amadablam, Kangtega and many other peaks through the village of Kyanjuma and a small forest. We cross the river at Phungithanga (3250 m), a small shopping area for hikers. Steep climb for 2 hours to Tyangboche, a place well known to hikers and for its important monastery on the historical level and by the reputation of its Lamas. There is a magnificent view of the summits Amadablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Kyantega and Mount Everest. 5 hours of walking.

Day 07: Tyanboche - Pheriche (4280 m):

An easy descent through a white rhododendron forest where you can see mountain birds such as pheasant Impeyan. We reach the Dudkhosi river where there was still a traditional suspension bridge. Go up to Pangboche (3930 m) where you can visit the monastery with the presence of a head and a hand of yeti. We continue through a forest of birches and a meadow until Pheriche where there is a clinic of "Himalayan Rescue Association". 5 1/2 hours of walking

Day 08: Pheriche - Labuche (4910 m):

A little steep climb through a wide, wet valley where you can see yaks go free. There is a superb view of the Abi Himal and Cholatse on the left. The climb is rather easy up to Dughla then definitely more steep for one hour we find several chortens with the name of the mountaineers died during the ascent of the peaks of the region. Then an easy walk along a stream to Labuche, a village specially built for hikers. 6 hours of walking.

Day 09: Labuche: Rest for acclimatization with the possibility of a small excursion.

Day 10: Labuche - Kalapatthar (5575 m) - Gorakshep (5140 m):

A walk on the right side of the small river and then on the glacier until Gorakshep. Then a steep climb to the left to reach Kalapatthar where we will enjoy a panoramic view of Mount Everest, Lothse, Nuptse, Pomori, Khumbutse and also other peaks. We will then return to Gorakshep. 7 hours of walking

Day 11: Gorakshep - Dingboche (4410m):

Easy descent through Labuche Dughla and then we will take a path on the left to go to Dingboche crossing walls manis up Ding Boche, the last traditional village at this altitude (4410m ), Located in the eastern corner of the Khumbu Valley in the shadow of the Amadablam. 5 hours of walking.

Day 12: Dingboche -Chhukung ($ 730m): An easy climb up Chhukung (4730 m) with the way many walls manis. 3 hours of walking.

Day 13: Chhukung - Base camp of Island Peak (5080M): Along the crest of the glacier to the base camp. 3 hours of walking

Day 14: Base camp of Island Peak - Camp altitude (5600m)

4 hours of fairly hard climb but it is not necessary to use a particular technique mountain: arrival at High Camp. 2 1/2 hours walking.

Day 15: Camp altitude - Climbing to the summit of Island Peak (6189 m) and descend to the base camp:   

slow but easy climb during the night up to 6000 meters. Then slopes reach 45% to reach the summit of the ridge for 40 minutes to reach the top of Island Peak (6185 m). Then we will go back down to the base camp and be very vigilant. 10 1/2 hours walking.

Day 16: Base Camp - Phortse (3860 m):

Descent from the Cross, an easy walk through the meadow until Panboche by the small path to the right of the valley. View of the Kangtega and the monastery of Tyangboche. Continuation to Phortse: a place known for the observation of the fauna. 6 hours of walking.

Day 17: Phortse - Jorsalle:    

A descent to Phortsethanga where it joins the trail from Gokyo. The climb is steep after crossing the river to Mongla, then an easy descent through Kyangjuma to Namche. The descent takes you to the bottom of the valley to cross the river Dudhkosi. Follow the river with easy walking to Jorsalle. 6 hours of walking.

Day 18: Jorsalle - Lukla (2840 m):

We left the national park and we follow an easy walk to Thadokoshi through the villages of Phakding and Ghat. Then a slight climb by Chaurikharka to Lukla. 5 hours of walking

Day 19: Lukla - Kathmandu: Return flight to Kathmandu from Lukla.

Day 20:   Visit to Bhaktapur ancient city of Kathmandu valley.

Day 21: Transfer to the airport for departure

 Iceland Peak  (6189 m)


Retour (historique)

This Himalayan peak is located in the Everest region. The peak of the Island Peaklmja, known in Nepal as Imja-Tse, is very interesting and attractive for its great western glacial wall.

The difficulty of this mountain is to manage the walking on the snow and the altitude. Technically there is not much risk, such as the normal route of Mont Blanc.

Duration: 21 days   Difficulty: Sport +     

Season: Spring, Autumn

One must have experience of walking on snow and altitude, technically there is little risk.

Equipment needed for a group of 10: ice ax, harness, 4 carabiners, jumar, ascender, descender, pair of gaiters, glasses glasses, ice ax, hull shoes, crampons and mountain clothes.
